Berlin - Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg – Willy Brandt

Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg – Willy Brandt

Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg Willy Brandt in Schönefeldt was supposed to have opened on October 30, 2011, but has been repeatedly postponed - March 17, 2013 - January 2017 - then 2018 and finally it was opened for commercial flights 31. October 2020. Price 4,2 billion Euro.
The headline taken from "The Engineer" says it all:
"Work on Berlin-Brandenburg International Airport is evolving into a farce: While engineers are struggling with a faulty fire protection system, new examples of construction fraud are constantly being uncovered."
The airport is being built as a major extension of the existing Berlin Schönefeld International. The airport is named after "Willy Brandt", the former mayor of Berlin and chancellor of the SPD.
Berlin Brandenburg International will replace the two airports in Berlin that remain in operation. Only Schönefeld's current southern runway will be preserved.

If I were asked to say what, apart from peace, was most important to me, my answer would be: Freedom

Det er muligt at komme på rundvisning i lufthavnen lige som det er muligt at komme op i et 32 meter højt udsigtstårn for at få et overblik over hele herligheden.
